Recall/describes the causes, detection and management of the following:
CI_BK_01 Basic Cardiac and/or respiratory arrest
CI_BK_02 Basic Unexpected fall in SpO2 with or without cyanosis
CI_BK_03 Basic Unexpected increase in peak airway pressure
CI_BK_04 Basic Progressive fall in minute volume during spontaneous respiration or IPPV
CI_BK_05 Basic Fall in end tidal CO2

Discusses the importance of understanding the need for the following attitudes and behaviours:
CI_BK_31 Basic Awareness of human factors concepts and terminology and the importance of non-technical skills in achieving consistently high performance such as: effective communication, team-working, leadership, decision-making and maintenance of high situation awareness
CI_BK_32 Basic Awareness of the importance and the process of critical incident reporting
CI_BK_33 Basic Acceptance that it can happen to you; the unexpected can happen to anyone
CI_BK_34 Basic To practice response protocols in resuscitation room or in simulation with other healthcare professionals as appropriate
CI_BK_35 Basic The need to follow through a critical incident with proper reporting, presentation at morbidity meetings and warning flags as necessary, with appropriate supervision
CI_BK_36 Basic The provision of information to the patient and where necessary ensuring they get the appropriate counselling and advice, with appropriate supervision
